Cameroon: Environment Delegation To Fight Pollution - AllAfrica.com

In a series of planning meetings towards the jubilation of the International Day of the Environment which is every June 5, the Littoral Provincial Deputation of Environment, Delicatessen Koumai, have got mapped out activities to be carried out in the Province.

Talking to Cameroon Tribune, the Provincial Delegate said the Deputation seeks to transport out a programme called 'Less air Pollution', adding that they have workers on the field with specific undertaking to carryout in conformity with the subject for this twelvemonth which have to make with pollution. The field workers, he said have got to do certain the pollution of the environment is reduced.

Koumai said they will have got what they name matriculation «paired and unpaired». That is, if the matriculation figure of a auto is paired, that auto is not supposed to circulate, for a peculiar time period according to the agenda that they pass on to the public. By this action, he went on, they believe it will cut down the figure of autos which will have got to let go of gas thereby reducing the charge per unit of pollution.

The Delegate also stated that they have got another activity which they will affect earmarking certain streets where autos or anything that causes pollution will not be allowed to go through through these streets during the time period of the activities marking the World Environment Day.

This programme, he said, have already been discussed with the Government Delegate and the Senior Divisional Military Officer (SDO) of Littoral who have accepted to give his support in the implementation, through communiqués which he will subscribe and guarantee they are implemented. Koumai also said they mean to work with the mass media for effectual airing of information to the general public.

Apart from this, Koumai said they will also organise a March against pollution, works trees and black and white out T-shirts towards this day.
